Is emotional appeal good enough to win a country that knows - TopicsExpress

Is emotional appeal good enough to win a country that knows business better than rest of the world ? Just impossible. This is what I again understood today after reading an article in The Telegraph. Written by Sunanda Kumar Dutta Ray ( who was editor of The Statesman in our teen days when our parents used to think reading that paper will improve our English ) the article reminds that past is no guide to the future when business matters. As per author this must run in the heart of Mamata Banerjee before claiming her recently concluded Singapore visit a big success. Instead of running loose like a deprived child in an expensive toy shop ( what an excellent comparison ) Mamata should have kept her statistics ready to prove that investment in Bengal will fetch bigger return than China & Indonesia where Singapore invests it’s money mostly. We all know that Thomas Stamford Raffle the East India Company man who is considered father of modern Singapore landed the place in 1818 from Calcutta (!!!!!!! ) , from 1823 to 1868 Singapore was governed from Calcutta & a portion of Singapore was planned in line of Calcutta maidan but that makes no sense in the year 2014.Here are three snaps taken by me.Two are of Calcutta showing few majestic colonial building built in last century when Singapore was an insignificant fishing harbor & the last one is today’s Singapore when Calcutta thanks to 34 years of impotent rule of left & present aimless madness is nowhere in world map – what a horrific tragedy !
