Is it really sacrilegious for a government to institute a policy - TopicsExpress

Is it really sacrilegious for a government to institute a policy of mandatory birth control for woman under 21 in poorer countries? 30 years ago while driving through the beautiful countryside of Jamaica with my then betrothed, I mentioned this as an option to unplanned teenage pregnancies and young people who were inept financially, intellectually, mentally and otherwise to adequately provide for the demanding needs of a child. I was met them with stern opposition.... frankly, a good cussing. A generation later, while driving along the same roads, the discussion turned in my favor. Jamaica, Haiti and so many other struggling economies are no better off for the many inadequately educated, hungry, desperate people who were brought into the world without the financial resources to take care of them. The first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Eric Williams professed many years ago upon the independence of that country, the future of the nation lies in the school bags of its children. How profound!!! If we cannot feed, nuture and educate children we are doomed to failure. If we do not see the need to stop young people, having children before they are able to raise them to be independent financially and intellectually, the cycle will continue. IMF, food programs, UN relief organizations, churhes, religion, etc etc etc cannot solve the problem. Maybe we need to stop burying our heads in the sand. Nuff said. I am fine with excommunication.
