Is there really a problem? There are a lot of posts flying around again about “problems” with NERO. From William’s Johnsons “Respect” post to Daniel Herrera’s “Reset to level 1 post” and including several derails of threads announcing the NERO STORE black Friday sale where the “Buying Build is bad” posts all reared up. The “No permanent Death in NERO ruins the game and hurts the new players” topic pops up almost weekly. Add in the occasional topic of requiring visual/costume/armor standards to be enforced, or racial skills or magic system changes, and we have a never ending litany of negative issues. “The game isn’t Balanced!”, or “Something has to be done!” or “The newbies are getting SCREWED!”……. Seem to be the ongoing battle cries, but I’ve yet to see a person with a lower level chr come on this board or any other and write … I get screwed over at every event, this sucks! I quit!” What I do see is a lot of people who’s chr levels are in the 30’s , 40’s and even higher writing about these ubiquitous, oppressed new players not having fun. Every now and then we also see a group of Long term, Long playing members( usually staffers) from one chapter or another use these “complaints” to throw a collective tantrum and “quit” NERO, but then 3 months later they pop up somewhere else having started their own game which usually turns out to be NERO with a different coat of paint. Again , Was there a real problem? In William Johnson’s thread, which is extremely well written and well presented, almost every single response was “well in our chapter we make it a point to look out for newbies.” SO if all of the individual chapters are making it a point to look out for new players, who exactly is making it miserable for these new players? Where is the problem?
