Paul tells us not to trust in uncertain riches. Here the word - TopicsExpress

Paul tells us not to trust in uncertain riches. Here the word trust means to expect or to hope for. We are not to hope for riches nor are we to expect them to bring us security or deliverance, because riches are transient. Moreover, money cannot buy the most important things in life:peace, joy, true friendship, patience, goodness, love, happiness, eternal life. Only God can supply these things. Material things often get in the way. Further, we must never let the presence of wealth get in the way. We must always remember that much is required of those to whom much is given (Luke 12vs48). Wealth for the people who have it is not the problem. What is dangerous is to set our trust and hope on material things. Pauls life was an example of how we can have riches and how we can also live without them. Here is assurance that if our lives are geared to the Word of God,then, through Christ, we can experience either financial wealth or temporary setback, but we still be steadfast in our trust is only in Him. If the economy should dissolve tomorrow,Gods people would not be rendered inoperative. The people of God can cheerfully give their tithes and offerings because God, not a paycheck, is our source Mark 10:17-27/Ps. 19:14
