Is this just some noise? The purpose of praise and Worship - TopicsExpress

Is this just some noise? The purpose of praise and Worship Spiritual Maturity 2014. Often times during the praise portion of service we see that the focus is on the musicians and the praise leader. They have to get a solo in and bring the attention to themselves. Not many congregational songs are being sang because that would not allow one person to get the glory. Ask yourself why is there a competition amongst worship leaders like the Stellar awards or a show like Sunday best. What are they competing for and who are they competing against? Why does a Gospel singer need a reality show, how does that honor God. When the focus is on them and not on God we have the onset of a problem. If the intention of all of the praise is to God then where is there room for competition. I say it is a bunch of noise designed to captivate the saints and get their focus off the things of God. When true praise goes forth the Holy Spirit is ushered in and the power of God is present. Tell me that the spirit moved the last time you paid to attend a Gospel concert. What yoke was broken, where were the devices of the enemy exposed, what strong holds were torn down? And for one minute if you focus on the lyrics of some of this stuff and the worldly music they sample, you would be in shock. Example of lyric “as long as I got King Jesus I don’t need nobody else” , when the scripture states that God said it is not good that man should be alone. When this is not the case it’s just noise. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me... The Holy Ghost comes on God’s people today - usually during or after a time of praise. He empowers us to be His witnesses. What is Praise? • Speaking, Singing, Shouting from our mouths with words that extol, exalt, honour God: e.g. “He is Lord,” “Praise The Lord!” “God You’re amazing” • Dancing in a way that brings glory to God. • Playing instruments to His glory Praise is Not • singing to each other. “Let’s do this, and let’s do that” • songs that focus primarily on one’s self - “me me songs.” e.g. “I’m gonna do this.. I’m gonna do that”, “Gimme this, gimme that” • Glorifying ourselves in any way. • ENTERTAINMENT!! Praise is to God and to Him Only! If you want to feel a move of the spirit consider your preparation for praise, who you allow to lead you in praise and you focus while you are praising. Condition you spirit beforehand, don’t subject yourself to the worldly tendencies of some of this music, and keep you focus on God and not the song leader. See Gospel Music article in the notes section. I pray you learn to guard your heart.
