Is your politician working for you? check again! After mailing this letter in an effort to exercise the simple rules that were taught to me in Jr, High School, precisely Ada Merritt Jr. High in 1970 by a professor named Mr. Cruz, where he taught me in Civics, as I had just landed in this country, where respect and dignity is not only expected but deserved by each AMERICAN CITIZEN... In these United States: You have right, freedom of speech and most of all you should have no fear retaliation against you for properly expressing yourself. Especially after coming from a country (Cuba) where communist dictatorship was enforced and I was not used to that. Finding myself in a very embarrassing situation at age 55 due to health problems I used a most natural resource: Our politicians who restlessly bombard us with promises at the time of election. For the elder, the handicapped, youth, women, equal rights, gays, blacks, Jews and so on.... I will post my letter but I take this opportunity to say that in-spite of all the departments, politicians and related agencies, I have only received a personal call validating my case and extending his apologies for not being in jurisdiction in the district in which I reside but promising to place this matter immediately the proper hands who would be able to help me. Mr. Willie Gort. and for this I thank him enormously and plan to support him in ANY political campaign and/or related for he has truly demonstrated that he cares by taking time from his busy schedule to reply in person on the telephone. Not even the Mayor of Miami, Mr. Regalado, who proceeded to email me links to HUD and while being not very sympathetic passed the buck. Again, thanks Mr. Gort... You are what this city needs and expects of a politician. Hats off. Jose M. Horta
