Isaiah 17:1-3 “A prophecy against Damascus: “See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one to make them afraid. The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,” declares the Lord Almighty.” Over the last few years huge changes have been taking place in the Arabian countries. Up until now the bigger Arabia consisted of separate groups made up of families or tribes. The strongest and riches tribe would be the rulers. Up until now. Egypt and Libya fell because of the so-called “Muslim Brotherhood”. This group has one aim and that is to take the whole world for Islam, and in doing so they intend to destroy Israel. They pray openly and publicly for Allah to destroy Israel. And how does this fit in with our verse above? Syria has been enveloped in a tragic and terrible civil war for months now and guess who is behind it? The same “Muslim Brotherhood”. You see, King Assad’s family is in the way. Damascus has never in the history of the world been demolished as described above and the king has always been in charge, but here we find a prophecy that the royal power will disappear from Damascus. We only have to watch the news daily to see it happening before our eyes. It is all about wrenching the royal power from the king’s hands. God’s Word is trustworthy and it is being fulfilled as we watch.
