Isaiah 40: 1-11 “Comfort, comfort my people,” says - TopicsExpress

Isaiah 40: 1-11 “Comfort, comfort my people,” says Elohim-to-you; “speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and preach to her that her service is complete, that her punishment is paid, that from YHWH’s hand she has taken double for all her sins.” A voice preaching in the wilderness, “Clear YHWH’s way! In the desert straighten a highway for Elohim! Every valley will be lifted up, and every mountain and hill lowered; the hilly ground will be leveled, the rough places a plain. And YHWH’s glory will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together, for YHWH’s mouth has spoken.” A voice saying, “Preach!” And I say, “What should I preach? All flesh is grass, all goodness like flowers of the field; the grass dries out, the flowers droop, because YHWH’s breath blows in them – yes, the people are grass. The grass dries out, the flowers droop, but Elohim’s word stands forever.” “Get up on a high mountain, oh Zion, herald of good news, lift up your strong voice, bring good news to Jerusalem, do not be afraid; announce to the cities of Judah, ‘Behold Elohim-to-you!’ Look! Lord YHWH comes in power, and his arm rules for him. Look! His wages are with him, his reward before him. He tends his flock like a shepherd, he gathers the lambs in his arms, and carries them in his lap, guiding the mothers along.
