Isidro Blea, 69, of Truth or Consequences, was pronounced deceased by a representative of the NM Office of the Medical Investigator early Wednesday morning following a vehicle crash. Mr. Blea was riding a 1967 Honda motorcycle and was struck from behind by a 2010 Honda passenger vehicle driven by 26 year old Enrique Gomez Portillo of El Paso. First responders were dispatched to I 25 near the Williamsburg exit just after 4 am. The crash scene extended approximately one half mile with the passenger vehicle stopped on the exit ramp. It took first responders several minutes to locate the motorcyclists body in some brush about a half mile from the exit ramp. The search was conducted amid lightning and rain. Mr. Portillo is facing a number of criminal charges, including DUI, vehicular homicide and careless driving. Mr. Portillo assisted with the search and was visibly upset, at one point collapsing on the side of the interstate.
