Island Protection Forum delegation meets LG A delegation of Island Protection Forum, which has been agitating on the domicile issue, met the Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A.K. Singh at Raj Niwas here yesterday. The Lt Governor gave them a patient hearing and explained to them the steps being taken to protect the right of the Islanders towards employment in Govt. service. This included both long-term and short term measures that have been identified. The Chief Secretary in the recently held press conference had explained these measures in a detailed manner. The Lt Governor invited members of the forum and also other concerned citizens to give their suggestions in this regard to strengthen our case. Other issues pertaining to the Islands were also discussed on the occasion. The Lt Governor also issued directions to the Chief Secretary to ask various Departments to put up details of vacancies in their respective Department so that these posts can be filled up on priority. Taking into consideration the problems faced by the youth for attestation of certificates, the Lt Governor issued directions for self-attestation of certificates. The Administration was asked to issue necessary order in this regard.
