Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley walked up to a police cruiser in Brooklyn in broad daylight Saturday, took a shooter’s stance, and opened fire on the two officers inside. Neither of the policemen had a chance. It was an execution by-coward. In the shooters little mind, it was a revenge killing, a payback. Not one news article Ive seen to date has mentioned that the two officers were unarmed. They may as well have been. Their crime was simple. They were cops. Sitting in their cruiser, their uniforms and badges a target, a target authorized by the peaceful protests of recent weeks, protests calling for police to die, protests sanctioned by the likes of New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio, US Attorney General Eric Holder, radical hate monger Al Sharpton, and of course, President Barry Obama. Police are ticked off. Rightfully so. They feel they have been belittled by the very bosses they serve. They will likely retaliate. What the officers in New York, and elsewhere, MUST understand is that the very people who need them are NOT the ones responsible for the attacks. As former Mayor Rudy Guiliana said Sunday, people in Black communities in New York always begged him for MORE police involvement. They are at the mercy of thugs, black and white, and have no one to turn to except the police. I can totally appreciate the police reaction, with hints of a slow response to calls. But, they...police in New York and elsewhere...need to remember who the bad people are, and they are...for the most part...NOT the people calling them for help. Voice your frustration, hit the gym, go to the range. Get it out of your system. Then, its back to doing what you are trained to do. Protect us from the animals that walk among us.
