It aint over folks! We come a long way after 50 years and.. We have a long way to go! We had a community celebration on July 12 in the community. Another Celebration at Shasta college on Wed. Aug. 27, 9A-2p, the only College celebration I know of North of Sacramento! That evening we had 3 excellent speakers at 6pm Shasta college instructor John Whitmer spoke on the history of the signing of the civil rights act. Karen Duncanwood of Paradise Cali. spoke on her experience of doing voter registration in Mississippi in the 1964. Gavin Brown told the story of a bus load of Freedom Riders came into his Mothers restaurant in Honey Grove Texas, a Jim Crow city.
