It always makes me feel humble and good when people thank me for my service, but just now I had a slightly different experience. I was coming out of Vons (in uniform as I stopped for a few things on my way home) and a man was filling water jugs at the water filling machine, when he turned and with a heavy accent said Thank you for serving our country. For some reason it meant more to me this time than usual because it was very obvious that he was an immigrant. He is right though... it is OUR country, no matter when you or your family came to it.
