It has always been with you the creator of the universe from the starting of the never seem to end but ending 2014. I have to say it is a wonderful year because of its yields, challenges and changes in our lives. At the beginning of 2014 it was never a bed of roses for my family. We really accepted the trials and difficult times as part of life; it really made us to become stronger, wiser and more sympathetic towards people who are in similar circumstance. This will be the part that will be hard to comprehend if you aren’t close to such family. Just as afore said it is really a wonderful year and am happy being part of it. The happening around the globe will be blurry maybe to lay men on the street that does not really have the statistical records of different sectors of world economy. But definitely the world recorded many improvements in different areas and spheres of life. We count our blessing which is very good but does our good really equate with what we want? This is a question we need to answer. What is the contribution our own economy made towards world peace and development? Let us be the agents of change we preach and also resolve top stick to our words in what we do, so doing we will be better people, better nation. As the international community was busy trying to maintain world peace in war places we also have our story to tell in our country. The Israeli- Gaza crisis, Russia-Ukraine problem, the Iraqi-ISIS (Islamic States of Iraq and Syria) problem and many others were night mares to people inhabiting such places. We heard of the beheading of Journalists like James Foley and others. All these added to world experience in 2014. I am not forgetting of the mysteries facing the aviation sector concerning series of cases amounting to flight disappearance like the Malaysia flight and the recent airasia 5801. And many other things that startles us when we remember 2014. Nigeria is not left with problems as well this year. We started the year with series of bomb blasts and insurgencies by the book haram sect. still trying to look into the problem by Federal Government and possibly find solutions to it. The April 14th case is still a shocking mystery to great majority of Nigerians till date. The disappearance of the Chibok girls which became an international issue. The country still been faced with the disagreement in the health sector and the federal government. We were suddenly embraced by the dreaded ebola disease outbreak. A city with a porous gate toils in vain to maintain security and discipline they say. And most happening makes people of the world to have experience and better the society at large, same is really expected of us. We need to make such life style as part of our resolution in 2015. Our country is not left with achievements in 2014; we achieved a lot no matter our individual rating for the present government. The rapid way we eradicated the pandemic of the dreaded viral disease Ebola in our society shows the standard of health practitioners we have in the country. Kudos to late Dr. Adadevoh, who paid a huge sacrifice for this great nation. Owing to this fact the country should also resolve to better the standard of our health sector. This will go a long way in combating health problems in the country the more. We as a country couple of months back made it as best economy in Africa, but big question to be answered is why the sudden surge of inflation in our currency equating our naira to be almost 200% of a dollar. Let us all support a change that will better the standard of living in this country. We need to resolve to see the problems of our fellow patriot as our own. To our leaders, leadership is something that comes from God almighty, let us try to do things that will please God and humanity. Let us not settle for good when our best is not yet seen. Let our resolution be towards the betterment of our country and not just for that of our different families and our pockets. Treachery act should not be part of our resolutions in 2015 because it has reduced many leaders to nothing in their jurisdiction. To whom much is given, much is as well expected, as a leader never forgets the suffering of the poorest of the poor in the society. The old men and women at the rural areas, who will make out time to queue under rain and shine to cast their votes come 2015, do not forget them because it will be an everlasting curse. As a leader in this country and the world at large, let our resolution be of good governance in all ramifications. To my fellow youths gone are the years when we were deceived. Resolve in yourself to believe that all that glitters are not gold; good name and character is better that silver and gold. Make your price to be far above rubies. Let us set a standard for ourselves in 2015 and not allowing ourselves to be used as thugs in electioneering process. We need to stand on our principles alone and not people that can easily be changed and bought with money. Let us resolve to be what the society expects us to be; real agents of change and not of destruction. Let us say no to terrorism for peace to reign, let us say no to thuggery for election to be free and fair, let us say no to bribery for our country to be corruption free, let us say no to mediocrity for meritocracy to rule. Let us all resolve to make good use of our youthful strengths in things that will better our nation. The future of this great country only lies in our hands when we say no to corrupt practices and be that change of change that the society wants. The great noble laureate of our great country, Prof. Wole Soyinka said “weak people revenge, strong people forgive and intelligent people ignore” let us act like the intelligent people we have always been. If I have offended you through my act, write ups and attitude do well to ignore me because it means you have forgiven me and you are not weak. Planning how to revenge ethnic or religious bigotry is what has made us to remain a weak and ‘crawling to develop’ country. Let’s accept the polity of any ruling administration and play a supportive role towards achieving a greater success. Let us consider and compare the level of our development with people we started with and see where we are now. A great change is need. It all lies on the shoulder of me and you through our resolutions today to make our country a better place come 2015. Big thanks to God almighty for his guidance, providences and blessings all through 2014.
