It has been a busy but exciting past two weeks here at the ABF. Weve had positive meetings with various institutions including the Kenya Association of Sea Anglers (KASA), the Kenya Marine Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) and the marine fisheries department offices in Malindi to name a few. We also met with the Kenya Coastal Development Programs (KCDP) regional Beach Management Unit (BMU) leader and the leaders for the Watamu and Malindi BMUs. With these leaders we discussed the best means of further developing our relationships at artisanal landing sites and improving the efficacy of our rewards system to increase recapture reporting from these important sites. This all ties into some new projects we are currently seeking sponsorship for to get started and supported for long term continuation. There has also been lots of positive correspondence with our international and regional allies about potential sponsorship and collaboration options for some of our new project ideas. Overall, although this site may have quietened down this last two weeks, this can be considered a good sign as it reflects how much has been going on at this exciting time. We will be sure to keep you informed here as things progress.
