It has been brought to my attention that some people may not know Heather and Bensons story and I wanted to share what I had posted for some earlier. Feel free to share. If you havent already, like and share this page for updates on Heather (Surber) Sebanc and baby Benson. If you dont know.... Heather is a breast cancer survivor whom despite chemo, radiation, a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, AND having an ovary removed... She found out she was surprisingly pregnant with baby number 3 after being cancer free for about two years. During her pregnancy she was closely monitored because of her medical history and all was well until a dark spot was detected on the babys bowels via ultrasound. They feared cystic fibrosis was the culprit after genetic testing showed that both Heather and her husband Donnie were carriers of the CF genes. Still, confirming it could not happen until after birth. As if that werent enough, at 32 weeks pregnant Heather received devastating news that her cancer had returned. Doctors decided that the best scenario for both Heather and the baby would be to deliver at 34 weeks. An adorably perfect baby boy named Benson was born on September 3rd and at one day old was sent to Riley for surgery to try to connect his bowels. The surgery was unsuccessful and will be preformed again soon so he does not have to wear a bag anymore for waste and will hopefully begin normal feedings. Since his birth, Heather has gone through two rounds of chemo and continuously stays at Riley with Benson (unless she has appointments or treatment). Heather and Benson are fighters and so strong! Donnie has also been holding down the fort working full time, taking care of their older two boys, Brady and Bryce, and going back and forth to the hospital as much as possible to see his wife and newest baby. This family has endured a lot and still is. This page is to keep you updated, inform you on how you can help ease their burdens, and most importantly to show the family they have lots of support, love, and prayers! Thank you all. Please let me know if you have any questions.
