It has been very difficult to choose the 17Hours team as indicated previously due to the many exceptional and varied applications. By way of introduction I thought I would introduce an athlete a day who will be joining the 17hours Age Group sponsored Team (in no particular order…...as they are all exceptional in various ways). 17HOURS SPONSORED TEAM – LADIES PENELOPE ‘PIP’ HOLLAND Based in Brisbane and racing in the 40-44 Age Group, Pip Holland is a strong all round athlete with a strong pedigree in both running and swimming producing some exceptional results to date. A previous IM Age Group Champion (IM NZ) and 70.3 AG Champion (Phuket) she followed that up with a top 10 finish in the World IM Championships in Kona, Hawaii (2012) before taking a sabbatical from IM racing. Pip returned to Long Course racing this year(2014) placing 4th in Cairns IM 70.3 clocking the fastest run split and 2nd fastest swim along the way. She followed that up with a 6th in her AG at the Gold Coast Half Marathon (out of almost 800 in her AG) beating 96% of the entire field. Pip was previously in the Military where she spent 22 years serving the Country, which no doubt has given her an extremely disciplined approach to her training ( :) ). Pip is also toeing the start line at next year’s inaugural Ultraman Australia over 3 days, a task that will no doubt push her limits.
