It hurts when you see people who are supposed to protect wildlife - TopicsExpress

It hurts when you see people who are supposed to protect wildlife break the laws and principles of conservation. It hurts even more when these people are experts in wildlife conservation. It hurts even more when these people are leaders whom we look upto for creating policies and implementation of the laws in place to protect elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and other wildlife. In wildlife conservation and management. ..there is a cardinal rule that we must KEEP SAFE DISTANCE FROM WILD ANIMALS This is a natural law that must be observed to ensure that we let wild be wild. The only time a human being is allowed to break the safe distance rule is when the animal is in need of help. And the only people allowed are professionally ascertained by kws and they too must try to keep wilderness rules as much as possible. Even in animal orphanages you are told DO NOT TOUCH OR FEED these animals. Am disturbed when I see wildlife activists and our own leaders taking selfies with wild animals. Whatever reason you give, it is wrong! This trend seems to be gaining momentum here in kenya and I urge kws to take action and stop this nonsense. I also urge wildlife activists to lead by example and do what is right...follow the rules and principles of wildlife conservation. Paula Kahumbu please I hope you correct this and advice the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya on the same. These two selfie photos violates conservation ethics and this must not be repeated.
