It is a rule of thumb for image managers that certain dominant factors are taken into consideration and remain immutable? For instance, it is a taboo to seek to change the long-term cultural traits for which a candidate and his captive audience had been associated. Why all this big fuss by Buhari managers to show-case Mrs. Buhari in public? Do Northern politicians flaunt their wives? So, they want to target new supporters and lose the reliable traditional ones? Again, is it not a basic issue in Image Management that an old dog does not learn new tricks and so, you must work around such established issues as the known sartorial (dressing) habits of an established person? Why all these attempts to dress Buhari in ‘borrowed robes’? Why dress him up in a suit and present him on a television advert? To an audience that has never seen him in that attire, the new image is a turn-off because the new Buhari they are being presented appears fake as that is not the image of the man they had known and trusted.
