It is a shame for me, having grown up under the Lion Rock, not - TopicsExpress

It is a shame for me, having grown up under the Lion Rock, not having walked up to its summit. The closest point is up to the Lion chest almost 40 years ago when a group of classmates attempted a round-HK hiking, which failed. The shame stays as of today. I made another close attempt last Sunday by going to its close sister, the Amah rock, standing down its northern slope. This Amah Rock, less acclaimed though, does carry Hong Kong memory for our generation. With its peculiar structure, it tells the story of a mother looking for her husband with a baby on her back. Unlike the Lion Rock, which is visible in almost every part of Hong Kong, Amah Rock is only visible in the Shatin down the Northern side. Besides visibility factor, this story is just too old fashion to gain popularity in an age of telecommunication. In the visit last Sunday, I told the Amah that her husband would never find his way back home as he could no longer recognize the Shatin today. :( Many people with old school of thought like to emphasize Lion Rock spirit to typify Hong Kong philosophy -- hard working. While both sides of the Lion Rock have undergone big changes, these people are still embracing this outdated thoughts. In the era of IT, people have to Work Hard + Work Smart and very important Work Fair.
