It is disrespectful to disregard Big Mal even when his autobiography did mention something negative about us. The decision has been made and let us all abide by it. PNG must take stride in the fact that a legend of the game will mentor the Kumul Team. If I was a player picked now to be coached by this legend, I would be a attentive listener and get the best out of him, and play emotionally above my expectation. The current government is spending millions of Kina on infrastructure sport development, and such person on deck can advice us what sort of human resource development PNG needs in rugby league which we lack at present to develop our game further and farther. Money spent on Mal will in the course of time, tell us whether it was an good investment or not. We have so many rugby league coaches in all levels of the game in PNG who are coaching with or without certificates. What these coaches direly need to fully equip them to coach in such a way to develop the game is to be taught lesions in coaching management, psychology in sport, sports management, analytical coaching skills, sports medicine, biomechanics in sports, and territorial coaching skills, to list a few. Definitely by a mile, most of our coaches, technical staffs and sports administrators lack the list mentioned. Experience is a good thing but the experience gained must be measured. On the money thing again, some of us, myself included, rugby league has given us alot in frame, character development and discipline; as a token of appreciation, in our working life, we are giving our time freely to the development of rugby league in whatever capacity in the sport we love. We have also used our own money to contribute to the game we love. For myself, 12-14% of my annual salary in my working life has been given freely to rugby league for the last 17 years during my other life as a coach, and doing the same in this life as a sports administrator. The point here is, if you love to develop the game then it must be dictated by the love of it than by the virtue of monetary gain.
