It is hard to believe we have been here in Texas for over one month already!! We are at Baptist Bible Translators Institute in Bowie for linguistics training and culture study. We are currently taking a Phonetics class, which is the study of human speech sounds. Basically, we are learning how to reproduce every sound that a human can make. This will help us immensely in our future ministry in Gabon. You may wonder why it is necessary for us to learn speech sounds when our ministry is to the Deaf. The Lord is leading us to primarily reach the Deaf, but also their hearing families and others that the Lord puts in our path. The trade language of Gabon is French, and there are many tribal languages as well. Another class we are taking is Culture. This class has given us great insight into foreign cultures and has been very thought-provoking. It is a blessing to be here, and we are excited for the remaining 8 months of study!! Please pray for us, as Phonetics is very challenging. There are many new sounds and concepts to learn. Lastly, we plan to be hitting the deputation trail full-time after our graduation here in May 2015. The Lord has blessed us with several meetings already, but we need many more!! Please pray for churches to partner with us in getting the Gospel to Gabon!!
