It is hard to understand how anybody can yank sensitive dogs, - TopicsExpress

It is hard to understand how anybody can yank sensitive dogs, rabbits, cats or other animals from a cage; throw them to the ground; bludgeon them and then cut them open with a knife and rip their skin off while they are still alive. But it is even harder to accept that retailers and designers continue to take the products of such horrific suffering and promote them as fashion! PETA is making enormous strides against this cruelty, but your support is needed urgently to save animals – including domestic cats, German shepherds and golden retrievers who are as loyal and dear as the ones we share our homes with – from the global skins industry. Please take a moment right now to support our work to stop the suffering of these and all animals by making a special gift. After being fur-free for almost a decade, department store Harvey Nichols recently overturned its compassionate policy by selling items trimmed with the fur of abused foxes and rabbits. As you may know, some rabbit fur sold by retailers in the UK comes from China, where there are no penalties for abusing animals on fur farms. Video footage from undercover investigations of fur farms in China shows rabbits crammed into filthy cages encrusted with urine and faeces. Workers pull the rabbits from cages by their ears and shoot them in the head with electric stun guns – often multiple times – while the terrified animals kick and scream. The rabbits are then hung upside down and decapitated. Nearly 2 million individual cats, hundreds of thousands of dogs and countless chinchillas, foxes, minks, rabbits and raccoons are tortured – there is no other way to put it – and killed for their fur in China each year. Undercover investigators from PETA Asia, PETA Germany and other animal groups have documented this hellish cruelty again and again. Fur ripped from the bodies of sensitive animals is turned into collars on coats, lining in gloves or boots and even cat toys. Will you stand up to cruelty like this by donating to PETA right now? Through eye-opening undercover investigations, powerful campaigns targeting retailers and designers who callously push the skins of abused animals as fashion and relentless efforts to educate consumers about the cruelty of the skins trade, PETA and our international affiliates are standing up for animals and speaking out against the global fur and skins trade more loudly than ever. Were winning important, hard-fought victories against this industry that makes billions from the suffering of animals, but when companies such as Harvey Nichols reject consumer opinion and begin selling fur, its clear that more must be done. We will not stop while intelligent, gentle animals are being skinned alive, and your gift right now will help ensure that PETA continues to have the vital resources we need to expose and stop this abuse. Thank you for caring and for all that you do to save the skins of sensitive animals. Kind Regards, Ingrid E Newkirk Founder PS Your generous online gift today will make a world of difference to rabbits, dogs and other animals who are threatened by the skins trade and help us promote respect for all animals.
