It is important to know and understand the emergence of impulses. - TopicsExpress

It is important to know and understand the emergence of impulses. Everyday, we receive many of them; some good and some bad. Some emerge from our sensory perceptions; thoughts and feelings. Others surface in our intellect, based on past experiences and/or our influences. Contrary to popular belief, we were not made to follow every impulse we receive. For example, If I am being led into certain habits that I know are not good for my health, such as drinking and smoking because others around me are engaging in these types of things, then I need to question my level of discipline and commitment to myself. I also need to understand the impulses that exists within me and know that this is something that is (in its pure nature), not good for me. If I am being led to eat certain things because my body craves it, I must weigh that against the knowledge I possess about the nutritional value and make a sound decision based on what is good for me; not just in the moment, but long-term. This same consideration can be leveraged when assessing friendships, relationships, how one chooses to spend their time and/or money, etc. Simply stated (again), we were just not meant to do everything that our impulses lead us to do. There are many things I have wanted to engage in, but I have to consider the effects and be willing to sacrifice my desires and my wants, for my greater good. It really bothers me that we live in an age where we are saturated by non-stop influences and gimmicks that are channeled through mainstream and social media. We are inundated with messages about turning-up, and getting your life, yet these are nothing but distractions; and because things are coming at us so fast and we do not spend enough time with ourselves listening to the voice within, we cannot differentiate and distinguish what is actually true for us in our own individual lives. AND all of our truths are different, based on our purposes in life (the unique work each of us were put here to do). Continue knowing what is right and true for you. Continue honoring, loving, discovering, and embracing yourself. You are an instrument; here for a purpose. Its not about the money, cars, clothes, fame, notoriety, or success. Its about the work. Continue to do the work. Be inspired, and be a blessing.
