It is official! The UK is experiencing the hottest July heatwave since 2006. We all know about keeping pets out of locked cars but has anyone given a thought to their tech? I have heard from a few people who have said that their iPhones have stopped working due to the heat, something we are not used to in the UK. I have experienced it myself on a number of occasions with my iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and iPad, and not all when on the dashboard. However these occurrances were all in Florida with ambient temperatures in the mid 30s. The Apple devices detect the overheating and first dim the screen, then issue a warning before finally shutting the device down to protect it. When it has cooled down it can be switched back on again and normal service will be restored. One of the main causes of the overheating is because the device is often mounted, right next to the windscreen which intensifies and focusses the heat more.
