It is raining heavy, it is dark outside, I thought I will share some old memories from my life in advertising, especially from sixties. D J Keymer which started its office in India in 1928 closed shop in 1956. Its Calcutta branch renamed itself as Clarion and its Bombay office was bought over by BOMAS (British Overseas and Marketing Services) The first MD of BOMAS was DGBell who went off to Lonavala after retirement and wrote the script of the Hindi film Amne Samne Sometime in 1963 BOMAS was bought over by S.H.Benson India Pvt. Limited. In 1965 one of the largest clients of S.H.Benson was just acquired Tata Finlay tea. The annual business was 16 lakhs. The annual turnover of the company was, if I remember right was 2Crores Checking Billing department the department I joined in 1964 was the largest department with 40 people. First Indian MD of Benson was Sherry (H N Mukherjee) in 1969
