It is so heartbreaking and distressing to realize that while Nigerians seem to be agitating for peace and security in the nation, the legislators are consciously creating gaps for disorder and insecurity. Special reference to the BILL FOR AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A NATIONAL GRAZING ROUTE AND RESERVE COMMISSION. Of course, common knowledge of agricultural science makes us understand that animal grazing aids the soil formation and such organized grazing as proposed by the bill is supposed to be of much benefit to the Nigerian soil. BUT, the questions are; 1. Is the current bill suitable for the current political/religious situation in Nigeria? 2. Who are these cattle rearers that the bill wants to create a reserved area for in Nigerian States... It is well known that the current crisis in Middle East & especially Jos started as a result of clashes between the indigenes of these States and the Hausa/Fulani cattle rearers who always overstep their bounds and also in their usual nature attempt to enforce their own religion in these states. This has resulted in great loss of lives and properties. Now, the Eastern states have began to pass the bill into law and the National Assembly is soon to consider the bill after their recess. A bill that reserves grazing areas in various communities in all the States that will definitely create an exclusive homestead for Hausa/Fulani cattle rearers... May God help Nigeria.
