It is so so so hard to visit someone that is not awake and there is nothing you can do but be there. Cheryl is still in CCU in a medical induced coma, still on respirator and had dialysis twice yesterday. As if that is not enough - SHE HAS DEVELOPED A MRSA/STAPH INFECTION. Visitors Must wear gown and gloves in CCU room to protect her... People who are ill or have a compromised immune system have a higher risk of getting serious MRSA infections - such as Cheryl with weak lung function and poor kidney function since heart surgery. MRSA most often appears as a skin infection. Wife’s condition originates from open heart surgical wound. Many people who have a staph skin infection often mistake it for a spider bite. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium responsible for several difficult-to-treat infections in humans. It may also be called multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or oxacillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (ORSA).
