It is with great sadness I share with you that a friend, colleague, and fellow teacher has left us. Jim Hackett passed over Saturday due to pancreatic cancer. Jim was a pioneer in the massage profession, co-founding the Chicago School of Massage with Robert King. I met JIm in 1987 at the AMTA Chicago Convention. He had some position with the National BOD at that time. I worked with JIm as part of Paul St Johns NMT teaching staff as Jim supported, sponsored, and assisted the Chicago NMT series for several years. We TAed together. He sold his half of the school to Bob and presented CE Seminars for some time. Most recently he owned a school on Maui, HI and was active in the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) I connected with him again at the 2012 Alliance conference. Jim was a great teacher to so many and a good friend to all who knew him. I have never heard a negative thing said about him. He invited me to come and play golf with him and create a seminar together on golf. I was in HI on Oahu twice and put off going to Maui for whatever reasons. Cant put things off any more. Time is too short and friendships too precious. So, Jim taught me a lesson on his way out - typical teacher, eh? Thanks for all you did Jim, for the foundation you helped lay that this profession has grown on, for all the people you mentored and touched, the world is a better place. RIP Brother.
