It may sound harsh to say, but the number one contributor to spiritual growth is not sermons, books, or small groups; the number one contributor to spiritual growth is difficult circumstances. I can tell you this because of personal experience, reading spiritual-growth surveys, and my own anecdotal evidence after talking to thousands of people over the years. ~ Kyle Idleman My (Sapphire Snow/Marla) number one contributor to spiritual growth was indeed difficult circumstances. I allowed debt to take over my life. I couldnt keep my marriage alive and after twenty-two years I lost the relationship. I dated someone who abandoned me...without explanation...just stopped being there for me. And after all this I have nothing that I had before...no credit...no husband...no disillusions...but I have God. Lifes difficulties made me realize I am and have nothing without Him. Today I have everything.
