It occurred to me that I have not thanked everyone who joined us for the Family reunion this year. So here it is: Thank you for taking/making the time to come not one, but two days, for arriving with good spirits and for your food contributions. Thank you for your willingness to play the somewhat unscripted games and for staying late enough to send off the wish lanterns. Thanks for carting everything down to the beach and back again and for separating garbage, recycling and yard waste so diligently. Getting ready for this event takes a lot of work and effort and while I love hosting it, I did not do it all by myself. As most of you know, Eriq now lives here and he worked along side me- he mowed the lawns, upper and lower (just getting the lawn mower from upper to lower and back again is an ordeal), while I used scissors to cut slopes and edges and blackberries and holly. (Maybe it is time to invest in a weed whacker). He carted many armloads and containers of wisteria and blacberries which had completely taken over the boathouse and steps. He inflated all of the floats, some more than once. And finally, he made not one, not two, but three batches of peanut butter fudge. Stay tuned for our next gathering-Thanksgiving, unless I can come up with something between now and then.
