It proves that India has spinalcord and can oppose stoutly when something is going wrong... we needed to send firm message to world.... India has vetoes in WTO, look at the history of nations who have veto powers at UN, they sidelined even those organizations to raid on small and poor countries.... Green revolution and rejection of PL 480 aid saw India becoming self sufficient in food grain production... Even when our granaries are full a large majority of our fellow men are not having the capacity to purchase at the market rate. The supply through Public Distribution System is keeping their kitchen stove fire burning... We cannot forget our less fortunate brothers and sisters starve just to please the developed countries, India with 1/6 the of the worlds population is biggest market for anything especially food grains, and the developed countries with their huge food grain surplus would be happy as they can sell it to India and other underdeveloping countries on their terms.... The Indian Govt would either have to buy food grains at high cost and supply to the teeming millions at subsidised rate driving the nation to economic bankruptcy, for centuries these western countries have been looting the wealth of these asian and african countries and now countries like India are becoming self reliant in almost everything form agriculture to science and technology the western countries cannot relish it and are devising newer ways to constrain their growth, the self styled new generation economist in the country are supporting the west but these economist in 2006- 07 were shouting from the roof tops the advantages of market economy, but left the field and were hiding in rat holes during the 2008- 09 financial meltdown in US.... We do not want such things to happen in our country, Modiji and his govt should be congratulated for taking the bold step in the WTO.
