It really is hard to say goodbye. No matter how many times we do - TopicsExpress

It really is hard to say goodbye. No matter how many times we do it. My family lost my beloved Aunt Bern earlier this week. She was 84. I took a few days off just mourn her passing. She was a wonderful woman, with such a beautiful and kind spirit. We always love to say good things about someone when they die. In this case, it is all true. She was one of a kind and the type of mother, grandmother, aunt and sister you just adored. She always made you think and even more, made you realize how precious love and life really is. Aunt Bern suffered a stroke last year and never really recovered. I last saw her on fall break in October. We stopped by to visit her in hospice on the way to Austin. I didnt stay long. She was sleep and looked peaceful. I kissed her and said a short prayer. Im so glad I did that. Now, I can let go. She loved me like a son. And told me several times how proud of me she was. She loved my wife and our girls. But really, we were the blessed ones, because her love made us feel special. The 2 pics show just how vibrant she was. She came to Oklahoma with mom and spent Thanksgiving with us in 2009. And she was the oldest of her siblings. I found a picture with her, standing next to mom and my uncles. I really come from good stock. Saying goodbye isnt supposed to be easy. Especially when you lose a star that will always shine, no matter where she is. I love you Aunt Bern! May you truly rest in peace.
