It seems that folks all over the place are very caught up in solving the problem of bullying in schools.It seems that it has gotten worse than when we were kids? Is that even possible? As the target of daily assault and harassment when I was in public school, starting in middle school and extending to high school, I understand the concept from the inside. My thoughts on this were the same then. Assault is already illegal. Harassment is already illegal. Stalking is already illegal. Calling it bullying doesnt make it normal or ok or any less illegal. We dont need additional laws to make this stop. We need to step up, stop making excuses, and protect our children by enforcing the letter of the law already in place. Consistently, not just for poor kid (in my experience it was only called bullying if the kids parents were weathly, sorry, true).
