It seems we keep having the same conversations over, and over. Who - TopicsExpress

It seems we keep having the same conversations over, and over. Who is or is not Creole? What qualifies someone as Creole? Can you cook a proper gumbo, and such. While I have no problem with these posts in general, sometimes they turn ugly. And for what reason? Should we all submit blood samples, and pay for authorized genealogical charts to prove we belong here? Why do we try so hard to discredit others who claim to be Creole? What does it matter in each of our personal lives; our everyday loving and living? I overheard a conversation between two older Creoles. They were grumping about a novel written about Creoles, saying the writer was not even legitimate, and therefore should not write about what he/she does not know. Yet, not many Creoles (that I know of) are writing novels about our history. What are we...armchair humans? It takes energy to hold anger and suspicion. This exclusionary behavior shuts us down, closes us. What would happen to our community if we only concentrated on creating beauty, loving, laughing together (not at each other) What if we decided to make Creole, the word, synonymous with fierce kindness? A wise writer said it better than I could, “Every human thought, word, or deed is based on fear or love. Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, hides, hoards, harms. Love is the energy which expands, opens up, sends out, reveals, shares, heals. You have free choice about which of these to select.” What can we do (as an action, not talk) to make sure we stay close to each other so we can be strong for our earth and the beautiful humans living on it? Louisiana Creoles are so mixed, that we are in a perfect position to bridge gaps between many kinds of cultures and ethnicities. Why are we wasting time concentrating on who can be in our clubhouse?
