It started in 1990 with this article and my very first views of the soviet built Lunniy Korabl. Now, many years later (and with the help of so, so many people) I am finally ready to begin assembly of my first 1:5 scale model of what I sincerely believe will be the most accurate depiction of this very unique spacecraft. And it is amazing how everything came together; I have the knowledge of many experts, have contacted Russian Design Bureaus, have collected the largest single repository of LK photo (again, with the help of so many generous people), spent thousands of hours studying records and photographs seeking even the most minute detail, and finally - I have a budget for all the supplies, a proper work area, every tool I could need, and even a 3D printer. It will take years to complete the first, but along the way I will be making many molds so that 90% of the parts can be cast to build more of these. But, before I get any inquiries I must disclose that, at a cost of $15,000 to $35,000, I expect these will probably only go to museums and very serious collectors.
