It was 20 years ago this week that I began my current job as a producer for AM 1400 in Erie (WLKK then. WJET since June 2001.). On Saturday, September 17, 1994, I produced my first specialty shows with help from program director George Kaywood. My first programs included Automotive Digest with Bill Winchell of Jim Lockwood Dodge (later hosted by Car Guys Mike Miller & Ken Dias), and House & Home with plumber H. Jack Langer. A few days earlier, David Berchtold showed me how to package local stop sets (commercial breaks) for network automation-copying cartridges onto reels for then-novel hard disks. The station was located at 18 West 9th Street (the GECAC Building, formerly a W.T. Grant Department Store). WLKK 1400 moved to 2953 West 12th Street in October 1999, having merged with WFNN 1300 The Fan (formerly WFLP Flagship 1330) a few months earlier. Both stations have been in the historic Boston Store building at 716 State Street since January 2002. I thank all my colleagues & mentors- also including Timothy De Capua, Jeff Johns, Chris Hagerty, Rick Rambaldo & Joe Lang for their faith in me & patience with me these past 20 years. If need be, Ill do it for 20 more...and more!
