It was asked the other day about how much fuel you burn in a day with a saw. Im an owner/operator and dont get to devote myself fully to cutting trees because Im got to keep the beast that is the business going. This is an average day, 1.5 gallons of gas and starting with a full saw, ported and polished 2188 jonsered. 4 hours on a saw, 34 trees that prolly average ~450bdft a tree Doyle scale. I cut and topped one other guy on the Skidder. The rest of my day is spent coordinating trucks, loading trucks, running the dozer, mechanicing, paperwork, phone calls, etc. I dont base it off of how many trees j cut in a day. If I can go burn 1.5 gallons of gas thats about 15000 bdft, whether that is 60@250 bdft it 30@500, it works out about the same.
