It was suggested today that the Kitchen Garden at Gravetye Manor was worth looking at as far as the Garden at Garrocher was concerned. It is a work of Art and Artistry, it would be just the ticket if it wasnt for the dirty big wildlife pond slap band in the middle of the garden. Why have a pond that size? I hear you ask, simply because of the sand diggings. It was such a big hole that I think at the beginning we panicked, and rather than attempt to fill it in- actually there was nothing to fill it in with- we put a damn across and let it fill with water. It would have been a marvellous place to put the tunnels if it had been flat, but the frogs love it and a duck brought a family of 8 up to nearly full size before I or the cat had any idea they were there, the Dragon Flys are amazing, and Brown Trout, are amongst the reeds but ever seen, then again the reeds are so extensive that nothing else is seen ether. So imagine this garden in all its loveliness with a pond in the middle and you wont be far off the mark, well apart from a little tweaking, and a bit of tidying, and some new paths, and a few other odds and sods, hardly any thing at all really.
