It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, said Dickens. Mom is very weak and a hospital bed has been moved into their house. It is beyond words what the loss of any good mother is to her family, and my mom, above all her other many accomplishments, was first and foremost, a stellar mom. There are no words for the magnitude of that loss, which appears to be imminent. Yet, I am relieved that my teaching is completed for the school year as of today! And after a presentation of my research at the Ohio Public Health Association annual meeting later today, I will have even more time and energy to devote to mom and family. While I lost a job I loved for many years in March, I am thrilled to be returning to some clinical medicine. Another unexpected blessing is that in going through memorabilia at mom and dads and my own house, I have unearthed recordings of about 30 instrumentals I wrote when I was young. I hope to enjoy some summer evenings re-learning them and recording them on more durable media in the studio with other members of Red Blue Interlaced at Craig Markleys great studio. Thanks for all your support in this tumultuous spring for me and my family.
