It will be a tragic time when -- not so much if as when -- a minority of white citizens allow their racial disgust and anger to manifest itself in the same violent way that a minority of black citizens do now. It is likely to be particularly damaging because the white extremists, unlike their black counterparts, are less likely to be teens out to kick some ass and have fun, but to be older and more experienced at kicking ass and far more serious about it. One would hope that the more responsible members of the black community would recognize the dangers of this backlash, and give better guidance to their young extremists, if for no reason other than self-protection.
