Italian born tenor Enrico Caruso can be considered the first electronic age recording superstar making himself known world wide with around 300 recorded songs and thousands of live appearances in Europe and the Americas during the 1900s and 1910s. He was a regular performer at the New York Metropolitan Opera and during WW1 made many bond drive appearances. His career made him a very wealthy man and was able to make $10,000 a night.
