In JESUS Name! >>>>>> TURKEY, SE EUROPE & SW ASIA Pray for Turkey Riot police in Istanbul used water cannons, plastic bullets, and tear gas on opposition protesters in December. Demonstrators retaliated with firecrackers and rocks at officials. Anti-government rallies were also held in Ankara and Izmir. The protests were in response to recent discoveries of government corruption and bribery. Critics believe Prime Minister Erdogan is “trying to stifle the investigation.” Pray for peace in Turkey. Pray the unrest will not harm the country’s economy. Pray for truth and justice to prevail (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15). NORTH KOREA, EAST ASIA Pray for North Korea Leader Kim Jong-un executed Jang Song-Thaek, his uncle, political adviser, and unofficial second-in-command, in December on charges of sedition and corruption. Since then, according to Sky News, “Two of Jang’s associates have also been executed, while Pyongyang reportedly recalled some diplomats or trade officials overseas who were believed to have been close to Jang.” Ryoo Kihl-Jae, Unification Minister for South Korea, says, “We are seeing signs that those who were deeply involved with Jang are being recalled and purged.” Critics say Kim Jong-un became jealous of his uncle’s political clout, and his execution may be a sign of political instability. Pray for an end to tyranny and oppression in North Korea. Pray for North Korean Christian Believers to share the Gospel despite the challenges of living under Jong-un’s repressive regime. Pray for the North Korean leader to believe in Jesus Christ as his Savior (The Bible, Psalm 9:9).
