Its Easter. Which is kind of a time for reflection if youre inclined towards crucifixes. So, I thought Id spend a few moments recalling the remarkable people Ive met or come into electronic contact with over the years since I first started writing again (oh, THERES a story for you - teasing you with the again, arent I?!). Theyre people I respect, would like to spend actual meetup time with and whose work I invariably admire First of all, Doctor Who people and, the artistic genius who is Anthony David Dry. If you own a modern Doctor Who DVD, the chances are you have his artwork. Great bloke too, as is Brian A. Terranova, the second Kasterborous-based contact in this list. American, mind, but no-one is perfect. I should also make good use of the main man, the engine room of Doctor Who fandom in the north west, Gareth Kavanagh. Hes got a special spark of something, that fella - youll all know him one day. Quick mentions too to Philip Bates who does great work editing Kasterborous and James McLean, without whom the podKast would still be just me and Brian, ergo, crap. Theres also the whole Kasterborous news team, too large to mention here, but theyre ace, fab and awesome, all at once: acefabsome. Following this, the rather spiffing chaps and chappesses who gave me good advice and support when I first started out as a pro at Brighthub. People like JF Amprimoz, Neil Henry, Wendy Finn, Simon Hill and Michele McDonough Great chaps, still doing great things. I should also mention Matt Smith here too. Although he could just as easily be in the next block... ...the MakeUseOf people. Top quality, honest-to-goodness talented writers who explain it like it is, in clear terms. Justin Pot, Ryan Dube, Dave Parrack, Tina Sieber , Mark ONeill and many, may others. These people dont just write, either - they talk about utter nonsense too, and when that isnt happening theyre working hard behind the scenes to help make MakeUseOf the awesome website that it is. There are many more, but I dont have them all on Facebook :D Then there are the wonderful people who I met because of Kasterborous, like Simon Mills, Susan Hewitt, Paul Gee, Carolyn Edwards, each a talented creative in their own right, whether with code or a pencil. Lest we forget James Whittington and Martin and Brian from Whoray Shop, not to mention broadcaster Bob Fischer and comic John Cooper. I will conclude with the others - the ones who I have somehow come into contact with either in person, via email or on the phone who are working really hard at their chosen craft. People like writer and actors like Barnaby Eaton-Jones, John Gee, Elton Townend-Jones, guys who work on games like Joe Siegler, birthday boy Dean Wilkinson, and Jake Simpson. Finally, if I missed anyone, either you deserved it or youre too good to have your name besmirched with a cheesy introduction. These are the people who have made an impression on me since I started freelancing in 2004, and helped to make going (and staying) full time possible.
