Its a painful thing to grow up with horrible theology. When our beliefs about who God is are painful and dangerous, it can destroy our DNA, how our brain works & our relationships. Most of my life I thought that when Psalm 139 said that if I made my bed in hell, He would see me meant that God would hunt me down & get me. Hed find out. And Hed come after me to destroy me! When I read the portions that said my sin would find me out and that God would not look at me, if I sinned, I felt that Hed abandon me. I had to be perfect. That if I did sin, which we all do, God would NOT want nothing to do with me. These beliefs came from my childhood and the horrible religious upbringing I had. Yes, if I make my bed in hell with my mistakes and my sin, God will see me... and Hell come GET me.. Hell run to my rescue as a loving tender Father would. Hell go to the ends of the earth to find little ole me. If one sheep, ME, loses her way, He will find me, hunt me down and rescue me! His tender mercies are new for me every morning. His love for me is enduring and wont change. Hes been a Daddy for a long long time and He is a good Daddy. Hes not the painful abusive Daddy or Mommy who says, I cant take this anymore! WHO are you?! You are not my child, now get out! and throws a child out the front door. Hes not the painful parent who drives 10 blocks away from home when his child is just 8 years old and says, You think youre so smart? Fine. Now find your way home and drives off. He sees me. He sees you! He loves us. He loved us so so much that HE GAVE His only Son Jesus to rescue us. Yes, sin separates us from Him, but He didnt want us to be separated! He sent a rescue! He sent the answer! He sent a bridge between the gap of where we are and where we are meant to be. His love is unmatched. NO ONE on this planet loves as He does. But sadly, when our theology is mirroring our relationships here on earth, we can get all messed up. Theology = the study of the nature of God. WHO He is and HOW He acts is so misunderstood by so many people. God loves you! He wants to rescue you. When you fall and fail and end up in a pit of sin, He has your answer. I dont know of anything or anyone else who can rescue and restore like Jesus. Ive tried many things, to stand on my own and be my own person and rescue myself. But when all is said and done, Im a mess without Jesus. I hope this touches someone and opens their heart to the great deep deep love of God and all He gave us in Jesus. HE LOVES YOU & will hunt you down with His love to GET you and rescue you and save you!
