Its back... MUM & BABY MASSAGE 5 WEEK COURSE! NEW DATES ~ Mondays, 11th & 18th August and the 1st, 8th & 15th September, 10am to 11.30am, £55.00 with tea and cake included What is Baby Massage? Baby massage has been a longstanding parenting tradition in many cultures,such as India and Africa. It was introduced to the western world around 30 years ago. The IAIM course draws from both the Indian and Swedish massage techniques as well as incorporating principles from Yoga and reflexology. Our course teaches parents a sequence of rhythmic stokes and soothing holds which have been developed and refined over many years. The four main areas of benefit are: Interaction and Bonding Relaxation Relief Stimulation Massaging your baby provides a wonderful opportunity for expressing your love, whilst meeting the high need for touch and affection that is so essential for the healthy development of all babies About the course ~ Parents who come on the course will learn much more than just massage. I cover touch, movement, relaxation, interaction and communication. Who are the classes for? All babies from birth to one year (or older if your baby has additional needs) All parents and primary caregivers Benefits for your baby: Helping baby to feel securely attached Reduced crying and emotional distress Increased levels of relaxation Development of body awareness Relief from colic, wind and constipation Benefits for you: Feeling closer to your baby Reduces Post Natal Depression and the Baby Blues An increased understanding of your baby Relaxation from giving nurturing touch to your baby Benefits of learning in my class: Focused time with your baby Meet and get support from other local parents A supportive environment – everything is welcome – crying changing sleeping babies can all come along Learning a life long skill You will learn: The IAIM massage routine A colic routine Gentle movements Touch relaxation The science evidencing the need for positive touch Only you will massage your baby – I use a demonstration doll. We always ask permission before massaging our babies and never force massage on our babies. This develops trust and enhances communication. Baby massage is best for newborn babies up to crawling, but all babies up to one year old are welcome.
