Its been a busy week at the Somerset Cemetery, and Im sure there will be even more visitors over the next few days. Our flags are up (156 of them! Yes, I counted!), lining the main drive and some other areas! (Back by popular demand... Thanks to those who responded to my survey.) I placed the flags in a few different spots this year. Let me know what you think! While Memorial Day was originally designed to be a day to remember those who have died while serving the United States during times of war, it has become a time to remember and decorate the graves of any of our loved ones. I just want to take a moment and thank you for visiting, whether its to pay your respects to a family member or friend or just to drive through in order to give yourself time to pause and remember what this holiday weekend is all about. We will be emptying our trash cans today and on Monday, but they tend to fill up quickly on Memorial Day weekend, so we apologize in advance if you see some overstuffed cans. We do have a large dumpster behind our maintenance garage, and if you feel so inclined, youre more than welcome to dump your trash there.
