Its been a nice Holiday here at the Wirt household for Thanksgiving! It was a busy time however!!! Last weekend, I blew a brake line out on my 97 Ford Expedition. This past Wednesday, I pulled the XP in the garage and started work to replace the line. Man what a day! Turns out replacing the rear brake line is a total pain in the @ss!! I eventually figured out I had to pull the 30-gallon gas tank off the truck to get to the line. I also had to pull the fuel filter off as well since the brake line ran behind it. That was at least 8 hours of work on Wednesday. On Thursday, I took the day off, and spent time with the girls. We went to the Amish Door for Thanksgiving Dinner - Crowded, but excellent food! Also went shopping on Thursday night at Walmart. Again, crowded, but got most of the things on our list (plus a lot more!).!! Friday rolled around, and it was back to work on the XP. I used copper-nickel brake lines to replace the old steel ones. Got the lines bent, and finally installed on the truck (these things are a major hassle. I inadvertently put the fuel filter on backwards, and had to redo that.....I learned it hard to focus when youre cold, sore, tired, and have to pee..... After a little thought, I was able to get the gas tank back in place by myself - no small feat when it was a 1/4 full of gas..... By 10:30 on Friday night, the XP was back in service!! Lucky for me, no leaks anywhere in the new brake lines or fittings!! On Saturday, David Lendon and I went up to Ashland, OH, and picked up a whole load of bee woodware (the entire back of my XP was full!). Beautiful day, and had a great time with Dave! Unfortunately, we got home and learned we were still missing a lot of wood! Ill be going back to Ashland tomorrow. I took Saturday night off, and tried to get some rest! Today has been busy as well. Got up this morning, and bottled up about 30 pounds of honey. I then got back to the garage, and cleaned up my tools and mess where I fixed the truck. Then, with the help of Mizuki Matsumoto and MaryAnn, I cut up a section of one of my pear trees that was broken during the last wind storm. I havent run a chain saw in a while, and am beat again! Im now relaxing after having a hot shower and watching some football. Ill have to go back to work to rest up!! After all is said and done, I am very thankful to be able to still be this active (though my body is killing me now)!!
