Its been three years now since ive been put in jail for a crime i did not commit. It all began on a warm summer evening in March. My two friends and I decided to cool off with several bottles of beer to cap the weekend. Another week over, a new one just begun. Bakit hindi? I thought to myself. One drink led to another until the wee hours of Monday. All the stores were closed, so we went out to the village corner to get some more. Baka maka-dilihensiya, eh. Here comes an old man -- probably in his late 70s -- who jogs along and accidentaly kicks our pitcher and drinking glasses. We exchage heated words, and before anyone could shout for help, we beat him and leave him lying on the rosdside. Hindi sinasadya. Bitin kami sa alak, eh. We then run back home, nervous with excitement. Malas ni manong, I breathed. Tinulog na lang namin ang aming kalasingan. Three days later, the police pick us up and bring us to the precinct for questioning. Tangna, may nakakita pala sa nangyari, I cursed. We are sentenced to four years in jail, kaya isang taon na lang ang bubunuin namin. Hopefully, makakalaya na rin! Siyang pala, before i forget... Maraming salamat at bulok ang sistema ng hustisya dito sa ating Bayan. Kita-kita tayo neks yir sa labas, mga pre!
