Its great to see so many positive comments and great feedback on the subject of a aquatic facility in 100 Mile House. As Amanda pointed out a smaller facility or modified facility could be an option, but please be aware that the present suggested pool format was derived from a number of user groups getting together with an outside consultant and creating a feasibility study. These user groups, including Doctors, physiotherapists, swim teachers, school teachers, seniors and kids, gave their input as to what they would like to see in a facility so that everyone could benefit. For small children a wading pool, to a warmer area for seniors and aquafit, to at least a 4 lane pool for swim meets. Also having the lazy river would be excellent for physiotherapy and resistant training for re-establishing muscle tone. By having a 4 lane pool together with the smaller section that has wheelchair access, it allows for a swim meet to be going on and still have access to another part of the pool. If we only had a tank, when there was a swim meet there would be no other access to the pool during that time. A number of years ago, another proposal was put forward by a different group of people for only a four lane tank pool. This proposal was put to the public and rejected as it did not provide enough. People wanted more than just a tank. That is one of the reasons that this proposal has a lot more features included. We live in a great community and we need to support it. If we want to see growth in our community, we have to support what we already have. If we dont start shopping local and supporting the business we have, they could be gone. Once gone, it is very hard to rebuild. In order for this project to be sustainable, we need to work as a community and take pride in our community. We are asking everyone that if you do get called regarding the survey this fall to please take the few minutes and answer their questions. Without the feedback from the community we can not move forward. Thank you everyone for your continued support....spread the word.
